Satellite Thermal Control Overview and Challenges

Frederic Michard | Thales Alenia Space

Dr. Frederic Michard is a Thermal Expert at Thales Alenia Space (FR) a global space manufacturer delivering, high-tech solutions for telecommunications, navigation, Earth Observation, environmental management, exploration, science and orbital infrastructures. With more than 30 years dedicated to thermal engineering for space products, he had a major contribution to the design of new generation of antennas, payload electronic units, instruments and subsystems. In charge of R&D activity, he was particularly involved into the development, validation and qualification of innovative thermal control technologies dedicated to space applications such as composite material and mini two-phase fluidic components (Exchangers, Heat Pipe, Fluid loops…) in the frame of CNES or ESA projects.

Airbus Systems Roadmap and the Associated Thermal Challenges for Electronic Equipments

Frédéric Marchetto | Airbus

Frédéric Marchetto is an experienced engineer, within Airbus Design Office, in a department in charge of Strategy and R&T topics. He animates the CORAC roadmap for the Systems and represents the Airbus Equipment & Systems community within external organizations such as the CORAC, Aerospace Valley and IRT Saint Exupéry. Graduated from Ecole National de l’Aviation Civile, he has experience in project and team management, system architecture/design on a wide range of ATA. He has also been in charge of R&T partnership strategy in the Systems Procurement Department.

Dr. Werner De Rammelaere | Airbus

Dr Werner De Rammelaere joined Airbus in 2010 and holds a position as research program leader in the avionics and simulation products domain. He is responsible for the research strategy definition and execution for the domain. He graduated from the KUL University in Belgium and holds a PhD in Electrical engineering. Prior to joining Airbus he worked at the former Motorola/Freescale design center in Toulouse (currently NXP), in a variety of research-oriented roles and specifically concerning digital design and verification.

Hélène Calmels | Airbus

After four years of experience on thermal management for space applications, Hélène Calmels joined Airbus Commercial Aircraft, and more precisely the Airbus Avionics and Simulation Domain in 2017. As a thermal and vibrations specialist, she is the owner of Airbus Avionics thermal roadmap and she is involved in design, analysis and test activities and manufacturing support.
